Things That Are Good, and Things That Are Less Good

Good:

"Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip." For Judd Hirsch, and for Matthew Perry. Amanda Peet, not so much. But wow.

Samuel Delany's About Writing. This one gets a Holy Shit. It's kind of blowing me away, and I'm only on the Introduction. I mostly don't believe in books about writing, but this one rocks.

Bad:

Talk Like a Pirate Day. It wasn't that funny the first time. Seriously, shut up.

Harlan Ellison suing Fantagraphics. Maybe Harlan should set aside his ego in favor of his "lifelong interest in comics," since Fantagraphics does so much for the medium in terms of both contemporary and hard-to-find classic works. "Tiny but hostile" indeed.

Hey Dave, have you read Delany's criticism? Like The Jewel-Hinged Jaw? If not, it's cool and mindblowing.
